Gackt as Squall Leonhart Final Fantasy VIII Real Figure official fanclub statue

On offer today is the rare Gackt 'Real Figure' dressed as Final Fantasy VIII's Squall Leonhart.. This is a figure issued by Gackt's official fanclub 'Kissmark' of the visual kei rocker Gackt dressed as Squall Leonhart, probably around 1998 or 1999. Rumors circulating around 1998 suggested that Tetsuya Nomura drew inspiration for Squall's look from Gackt. (Nomura denied this in interviews and revealed that his inspiration was late actor River Phoenix, incidentally.) Nevertheless, Gackt's official fanclub took the idea and ran with it and issued this figure to fanclub members only.

Later on, Square ALSO took this idea and ran with it, as they asked Gackt to record the official theme song for 'Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII' and used Gackt's likeness to create the Genesis character. Which might be an admission on Nomura's part that, yes, Gackt's look had been kicking around in his head as an inspiration for quite some time.

The box is 14 inches tall, and the figure is a little over 12', so considerably large. The figure is made from a vinyl type material. The box and inner plastic liner has dents and shelf wear.
